    291 Seneca Street
    Buffalo, NY 14204

On December 8, join us for our annual luncheon at Chef's restaurant to celebrate Employee Learning Week!

Featuring Bob Mosher, Global Chief Learning Strategy and Evangelism LearningGuide Solutions on "Informal Learning: Are We Missing a HUGE Opportunity?"

Some research suggests that up to 80 percent of learning in the workplace occurs on an informal basis. Even with this being the case, most corporations spend more than 80 percent of their training budget and effort on formal training. This presentation will address the issues and methodologies surrounding understanding and effectively delivering informal learning, including e-communities (forums and synchronous environments), electronic performance support systems (EPSS). See how some emerging and nontraditional methods are stepping up to fill this much needed training opportunity.

BRANDING YOURSELF -- IF YOU DON'T, SOME ELSE WILL

Most of us don't realize that and those who do grossly underestimate the value and importance of our own brand. This workshop will assist you in identifying and developing your personal brand. You just may be the next Oprah or Lady Gaga and not even know it.

    About Tom Proietti

Tom Proietti is Professor of Communication at Monroe Community College and former Chair of the Communication Department there. He has also recently been named Visiting Scholar in New Media at St. John Fisher College.

Tom is a former newspaper, radio and TV journalist, and an advertising and cable TV executive who spend nearly five years with Time Warner Communications/Greater Rochester Cablevision as Vice President of Marketing and Programming.

He was the founder of the Communication/Journalism programs at St. John Fisher College where he taught for 12 years (1968- 1980). His recent appointment at Fisher caps his career with an exclamation point.

What is the CNY ASTD PechaKucha?

A unique learning event to be held November 18, 2011
    7:30-10am (continental breakfast included)
    DoubleTree Hotel Syracuse
    6301 Route 298, East Syracuse

This opportunity is for CNY ASTD members to showcase a sample of their knowledge, talents and skills in a brief presentation. And, an opportunity to learn from your local peers based on topics you choose.

The event is also an unconference. So rather than a top-down decision on who will present, speakers submit a proposal and submissions are voted on - this helps better align the presentations to the interests of our learning and performance community.
