Our sister ASTD chapter to the west, the Niagara Frontier ASTD chapter, has announced several programs for the Fall 2011.
- Their first program will take place on September 16 and be presented by Patricia McGee, founder of McGee Coaching. The Center of the Hourglass: Middle Management Sink or Swim? will present what is the cost to organizations as a result of promoting supervisors and managers into positions without training. And the consequences for the organization include managing through trial and error, higher turnover in direct reports, reduced productivity and overall morale.
- On October 7, Dawn Coburn Joy of Coburn Consulting and Resources will present Self Care for Workplace Learning Professionals. Learning is pivotal to the growth and ultimate sustainability of business today; and the effectiveness of the workplace learning professional is an important determinant to the culture and quality of this learning. Yet there are points in time where this effectiveness can be less than desired or challenged, as a result of the various “battlefields” that are encountered.
- Frank Ciccia of the Illuminare Group will present Creating Organizational Citizens on November 10. This session will examine Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB), and identify ways we can enhance this behavior throughout your organization. We will also have an opportunity for participants to share ways they are enhancing OCB and how it might be contributing to their success.
